Fall 2017 Cooking Classes
Couples Cooking – The Flavors of the Mediterranean Shores
Saturday – 9/30/17 – Participation 7pm-10pm
Food from the southern shores of the Mediterranean, with its bold flavors, colorful small plates and unhurried pace, is a natural choice for long, lingering meals. Join Chef Marilena on this culinary exploration of the deep and complex flavors of this region.
Menu: Green Olive and Artichoke Tapenade; Köfte topped with Savory Tomato-Butter Sauce and Yogurt Drizzle on Toasted Pita; Lemony Bulgar salad with Coriander and Nuts; Feta and Mizithra Cheesecake on a Crispy Kataifi Crust Served with Sweet Orange Preserves
Bread Baking Boot Camp
Saturday – 10/14/17 – Participation 9:30am-12:30pm
Homemade bread is the cornerstone of hospitality in many food cultures and especially in the Mediterranean countries. The ritual of making bread is relaxing and the results are always rewarding! With just a little planning, and the right technique under your belt, you can have fresh bread every day of the week. In this class we will also make some delicious spreads that perfectly complement our warm slices of heavenly bread!

Couples Cooking – Northern Greek Cuisine

Traditional Greek food is simply prepared and full of assertive flavors and fresh ingredients. In this class we will explore the cuisine of Northern Greece and the kind of food Chef Marilena grew up with in her native country.
Menu: Creamy Saffron and Pistachio Rice, flavored with Ouzo; Spicy Country Sausage with Pepper Ribbons and Tomatoes in a Red Wine Sauce (spetsofai); Arugula Salad with Persimmons, Toasted Walnuts, and Feta Cheese; Honey-Orange Semolina Cake (ravani)
Couples Cooking – Fall Comfort Italian Cooking
Friday – 11/18/17 – Participation 7pm-10pm
Food is always the gateway to understanding the culture of a country and this especially holds true for Italy. Come with a friend or bring your date and join Chef Marilena as you learn how to prepare a nourishing, comforting, and rustic Italian meal.

Glorious Soups of the Mediterranean

As the weather gets cold and crisp, and the nights turn long and dark, food comes into our lives with an even sharper focus. Cooking and eating now become a more serious affair for all. In this class, we will learn how to make warm, cozy, and classic Mediterranean soups that have comforted the people of these lands for generations.

Couples Cooking – Classic Southern Italian Cooking
Saturday – 12/09/17 – Participation 7pm-10pm
Grab a friend or a date and come explore the great culinary diversity of Southern Italy. With the help of a regional map, we will discuss the typical products, cooking techniques and culinary traditions of the Southern Italian regions. Then, we will set out to prepare a delicious and very satisfying meal!
